The moose is the largest animal in the taiga. It's one of the few species that eats and digests pine needles and spruce needles. It's strong digestive system can handle the harsh needles. This adaptation helps them survive in the winter months when grass is scarce. They have thick fur coat that keeps them warm in the winter but when the spring comes they have to shed their fur so they don't die of heat exhaustion. Their long legs allow them to cross deep snow and deep rivers. They live across most of the taiga. Most of the other animals don't live in that many different continents.
