The Taiga
The Taiga is the largest biome in the entire world. It is the home of over a million insects. Common trees there include Balsam Fir, Black Spruce, Douglas Fir, Eastern Red Cedar, Jack Pine and Paper Birch. These trees manage to survive because they have deep roots and thick branches.
Despite being the coldest biome, it has breath taking views of mountains, lakes, and grasslands. This is a great biome for hunting and trapping for all hunters who like prize animals. There are also a lot of animals. These include beavers, foxes, tigers, black bears, bald eagles, snowshoe rabbits, grizzly bears, lynx, wolverines and bobcats. Most of these animals are not nocturnal. The animals have thick fur to protect them from arctic cold temperatures and wind. Some hibernate and others scavenge for food during the winter months. Bears hibernate because they obtain enough food for the winter.
The Taiga is located in most of the northern hemisphere. It's in Alaska, Canada, Scandinavia, Russia, China and Mongolia.
The temperature during the summer months is 30-70 degrees. During the winter months it's -65-30 degrees. The average rainfall is 12-33 inches a year. Mostly during the summer months.
In the taiga you have to bring lots of heavy clothes. Guns are recommended for protection against bears, mountain lions, and moose. A map or GPS is strongly recommended for hiking and driving. You should also bring a camera for taking pictures of the wildlife and landscape.
